I'm looking for advice from owners or professional installers that have installed the Morimoto Mini H1 Stage III 7.0 bi-xenon Retrofit system. I own a 2009 Tahoe LTZ and I'd like to install the Mini H1 7.0 kit. I currently run 55 watt HID lights but after reading and researching for some time, I would like to possibly install the Mini H1 to enhance the headlights. I have several questions that I would like help with if anybody with experience could answer. I plan on keeping my Tahoe for another year or two before upgrading to a newer Tahoe.

1. Install low beam Mini H1's only or spend extra money and do the high beams also (two kits)? In other words, would low beams be just fine by themselves?

2. What wattage is recommended with just low beams installed; 35 watt or 50 watt?

3. Suggestions on the Mini H1 kit bulb color to match my XB led Morimoto fog lights; 4500k, 5500k or 6500k?

4. Which shroud would look best to keep the "stock Tahoe look" with the Mini H1's?

5. Is it difficult splitting the headlights to install the new 7.0 bi-xenon Mini H1's?

6. I noticed several people have purchased aftermarket headlights as part of the retrofit. I plan on doing the install retrofit to my factor headlight's. Will that pose a problem other than downtime?

Thanks for your help!

4500K

I have the Iris

Yes, Get ones with Butyl. Eagles Eyes or Depo

The Factoty light will not open. the glue is almost rock hard. The housings will start to melt before the glue really does..

At least for me.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Why 4500k color? I thought pure white is 5500k. Retrofit Source mentioned the XB led Morimoto fogs are 5500k pure white in color. I'm just looking for a perfect match of low beam and fogs :)

Can you please elaborate regarding "ones with Butyl? (Eagles Eyes or Depo). Are these the aftermarket light housings? I'm not sure what any of this means.

Any tricks to accomplishing a professional retrofit?

Thanks again for your help.

If you don't want to sacrifice light output 4300k-4500k may be the best for most lumens, however wont match the XB LED fogs, I have 4500k and they are pure white with a very slight yellow as the XB led fogs are more bluish white.

Ray,

Is your retrofit kit the new 7.0? Are you happy with your light color matching the fogs as you mentioned? TRS recommended 5500k with 35w or even go with 55w 6500k, any thoughts? Did you do the retrofit yourself? What light housings do your recommend to purchase? This is why I find it valuable to see what end users are using versus the sales staff recommending products so I can get this right.

Thanks

4500 is best light but 5500 is more the look and light. Whenever you run 35 watt ballasts the color is true but when on 55 watt it decreases. So 55 watt on 5500 bulbs looks like 4500 output, 55 watt on 6500 looks like 5500. To match the fogs either 35/5500 or 55/6500 either way.

The butyl is type of sealant between the headlight halves. Depo or eagle are brands of best replacement lights but also make them easier to open.

I got mine made from Black flame customs a sponsor on here and have the 6.0 version, I do wish i had the 7.0, but wasn't aware morimoto would be releasing a newer version, as Ive heard they perform way better than the 6.0 being brighter with a much wider light beam and perform as good or better as some OEM projectors.

For the fogs i did want to match it with the headlights but wanted the best light output so i stayed with 4500K, the difference of the colors isn't too much so they don't bother me that much.
