Big 3 Wire size

Tried searching but nothing much came up so im doing it wrong I guess.
Anyway, I want to upgrade my power and ground wires. Pretty much all of them.
I have about 10 feet of 1in wide ground strap so that part is pretty covered I think.
What is the suggested wire size for the power and ground wires?

2 GA or 1/0 is what I’ve seen people mostly use. Others might have other thoughts.

I've used 6 ga a few times, from the battery to the amp, with no troubles. 2 ga strikes me as overkill, but I could be wrong; and it sure couldn't hurt.

Most of the guys if seen doing the upgrade were running big amps so that might explain some things.

I did a 1998 K2500 suburban a few years ago using 2/0 welding cable. I had about 20ft sitting around for a few years doing nothing so it only cost me Lugs to solder on.
It was overkill I think, Now that I have to buy wire im not sure if i wanna pay for 20ft of 2/0 welding cable of it's overkill.
I'm not going to have anything requiring high amp's, Maybe a hidden winch, but that's a whole different matter.

6 ga is pretty big, but I wasn't arguing.

I have a 145 amp alternator, so im thinking 2/0 from alt to battery then 2/0 from battery to starter and probably 2/0 from battery to engine block and maybe 2/0 from battery to the under hood fuse box.
4 gauge for everything else.

nothing wrong with 2/0 if you’re trying to really beef up the electrical system and have real deep pockets.

1/0 would still be plenty good upgrade compared to any factory set up and still would be plenty adequate plus some for virtually any type of load you could think of. make sure it’s 100% copper cable
