Bigger tires on 2013 Tahoe?

I just bought a 2013 tahoe LT. I see tons of take-off tires and wheels for sale on Craigslist. If I wanted to put some different ones on mine could i easily go to say 18's and not have any problems? I see different sizes as options for those vehicles from GM.

I am not looking for ghetto type mods with 24 inch wheels and 4 inch tall tires. I use my vehicles for pulling boats, atvs, and basic off-roading on hunting trips.

At what point does tire size start messing with your speedometer and gearing and other stuff?

My wheels are plain jane 17" aluminum and I would mostly just look for a set of nicer 18-20" wheels that had decent tires on them when the time comes for my tires to be replaced.

My 12 Z71 came with 18s from the factory. I would venture to say that 18s will fit on your 13 without any clearance issues. You can go to this link to check gear ratio changes. https://tiresize.com/gear-ratio-calculator/

265-70-17 tires are 31.6 or 31.7 inches tall. Keep that tire height in mind to keep the speedo accurate.

There is a point where you lose towing capacity with those skinny sidewalls. I seem to remember trucks with 22" wheels were limited to 5,000lbs tow weight.

You could easily go with 18" wheels, that's what the pick 'em ups have. Just not up on what tire sizes they run with that wheel.

17" and 18" have a better ride. I just put 20"'s on my 2010 and the speedometer seems accurate

Thanks folks. Maybe I'll just jump to 18's when the time comes, I know that was an option from the dealer. I want the better ride and towing more than appearance.

Wheel size means nothing on the speedo being correct, all you need to worry about is tire size being the same height.

Late response, but...

When I bought my new 2002 LT, 16" was standard, but I got them to throw the 17" rims from the Z71s on. Although my spare tire, and the spare tire on the Z71s were still only 16".

I thought if I ever needed to put the spare on I would have to change it ASAP, I would not want to have 4WD and have a 1 inch difference.

Took me a bit to realize that the 16 inch and 17 inch were the same height, there was an extra half inch of sidewall on the top and bottom of the rim.
