Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you that you had onstar originally. In that case, it is the GPS antenna for Onstar. Homelink is a self contained unit, it has nothing to do with that box.

think the onstar gps is inside the overhead console assembly near the back of it. according to a drawing. and yeah gm/cell carriers dumped that service a while back. I miss my transportable i use to have.

i would think so to as to give it a clear view of sky. I would guess the drawing was left incomplete.
