Hey All-

The front chrome lip on the hood is killing me. I have painted this damn thing no less than 5 times. This time I used acrylic paint. 3 coats of black and 3 coats of clear... Looks decent for the moment. Once again, my fear is how long it will last. Does anyone know of a better way to black this piece out? Does anyone sell this piece in black?

Has anyone used vinal to cover it?

speaking of vinal, I'm going to black out a few piece of trim and I'm looking for the best vinal to use. Any sign shop expects here and know why type works best / lasts the longest when it comes to exposure and wear? The normal sign shop back roll of the stuff is cheap on ebay. Is there an automotive or outdoor application of the stuff? Where can I buy?

Problem is that there is no paint that sticks to chrome. I can't find a paint shop that has found success painting it.

Professional grade vinal that is put on correctly is clean.

obviously you are not familiar with vinal overlays....

Well Pace is that piece metal?
Regardless of it is or not, get the chrome sanded off and painted, then the paint will stick like normal.

Yep, you have to sand and scuff it, then paint will stick. Or try powder coating.

That is plastic, not real chrome. Scuff it with some sandpaper then paint.

SW CT,
Sand it down then prep with self etching primer, then adhesion promoter, then spary your base color with flex additive mixed in, then clear.
