Octane needs are a function of compression ratio and ignition advance. *Tuning for premium involves advancing the ignition timing.

depends on year and type of tuning but that is one way. if you have money for deposits and 98 or newer they will send you a device to plug in. you drive send them data thru email i believe. they tune. send it back. you load in. scan while drive. send back for evaluation. when all is goo send equipment back and deposits are refunds. actual tune cost is a higher with that method. they travel too so you can meet in person.

Wow  I always wanted the tune but I didn't find any human locally to do it this way I can do ut over sea great

Wait, It seams like you are not a fan?

What is the story? Am I going to get less life cycle from the trany or engine?

Are you implying I am not a fan of Blackbear? I hear of there work but have not used them myself. Otherwise I have not gripes with them. I often suggest them to others here and locally. The tune normally wont effect the lif of you powertrain. However if the tune is really agressive and you pull a drag strip luanch at a stop light or sign everytime you might have some problems later on. Not to worry about there work tho. Have not heard myself about damge or reduced life except for one person. And yes he was drag stripping it big time.

I just got a BB traditional tune after doing headers and new exhaust. Woke my 99 up and response is a lot better!! Also did a Transgo shift kit and had BB do slight adjustment with shifting and 50% TM removed. Weather isn't really permitting right now up in ND to really see but can tell there's more power to be used than before. It idles smooth, responsive driving around town, and if wanted will haul ass for being a mostly stock vehicle.

Big thanks to BlackBear!

Assuming you have a 96, the traditional tune is $200, with a core charge (refundable) of $60.

I am in the process of acquiring the 0411 PCM for my 99, do y'all need to tweak it before it can be used on the vehicle?

Yes it must be programmed for use on your vehicle before it will work properly. And will need calibration procedure done after install called CASE relearn/crack sensor relearn.
