You do know that during the cold season your A/C cycles on and off while you are in heat mode so the evaporator can remove humidity (moisture) from the inside of your vehicle, right? That moisture has to go down that drain. An Air Conditioner is a dehumidifier. Thats how it removes heat. Its the humidity that carries the heat. You could have indeed gotten water in the fresh air intake during your car wash but the corrosion didnt happen in that short of time.
Yea biggest cause of seal going bad and leaking out Freon is when ac compressor doesn’t work in defrost mode. Or system loses Freon pressure. Ac provides warm. DRY air to suck off moisture from inside windshield during winter months. Or high humidity cabin air.
One thing to note about ac compressors clutch system does wear and as that happens current goes up as clutch gap gets bigger from wear and. Own wiring can not handle the higher current so the compressor will not stay on. A lot of OEMs do this it’s about wire size. Cost. And circuit. If you replace cheap wiring to ac compressor. Compressor will work just find again. Same thing happens to engines with headers installed and starter solenoid stays hotter. Resistance goes up on hot solenoid and Demands more current to
work # 16 wire can’t pass current starter goes click click. Cools off and fires up. Replace that wiring with #10 wiring and problems solved. There are so many halfway right ways to do it.
