well the 40amp relays couldn't survive the current flow. I stepped it up to 70a relays on the 4 pin relays and 80a relays. after taking my Nelson Harness apart the terminals seemed too small for the size wire running to them. I cut all of the soldered connections out and upgraded the terminals to 9.5mm terminals for the much larger connections on the new relays.
The relays, connectors and plug sockets are hard to find and a proper crimper tool but I found a random website of a guy (davebarton.com) who has everything needed to upgrade. now no matter what stage the fans are cycling they are running through a minimum 70a relay with no soldered connections to heat up. both fans on low run thru a 60a trigger, but that wasn't ever an issue. they cycle much smoother now and move plenty of air, so much that with the ac on it was hard to get the fans to cycle from temperature without turning the ac off so no fans are running and then turning the ac on when the temp trigger activates to get both fans on high. all this just in time for fall weather lol..hope it helps the next guy with this problem.
