Sounds like you need a band-aid fix? Are you going to get your engine rebuilt soon? Is there something wrong with it? You probably don't want pay for a RMS on an engine if it's on it's last leg? Or what's going on? If the engine is coming out for a rebuild, then you obviously will get a new RMS.

Yes, I have a pretty significant rear main oil leak, I have about 135K and over 7K in engine hours (former Border Patrol SSV) so I'm debating on either getting the rear main fixed or getting a remanufactures engine and having a shop install it.

Ok, gotcha...

I had to look up the engine hours to miles "conversion". Google says 60 miles for each engine hours. So you have like 420,000 equivalent miles! Is that right?! (Insert head explosion)

Also, if your engine runs fine, an engine overhaul is entirely possible. You just have to find the right shop or guy. I think most shops will want to remove and replace with a long block.

Something like that it's a lot of sitting in the hot desert watching the fence. My truck came from Calexico sector down near San Diego

The PPV has the all aluminum 5.3L w/ AFM. If it’s just the RMS and the the motor runs fine look for the commonplace hybrid Tahoe, Yukon or Escalade for 1.5-$3.5k with its low use 6.0L LFA/LZ1 Reg fuel / Reg fuel + e85

The hybrid are plentiful in SoCal and you could probably drive it home. You’ll want the Navi, harness, rims, interior, alum hood, back seat, rear liftgate w/o lift glass and that 322/367 motor.

If it’s pre 2011 you’ll want the better front door cards that don’t come apart like the later versions. Options go on and on like heated seats, folding mirrors

2013 PPV w/ a 6.0L

I put a new 6.0 in my 13 Tahoe a couple of years back. Exhaust question now.

Cool. Do you have any tools, a friend and an engine hoist? If you can remove the engine yourself, you can drop in a remanufactured engine as well. Jasper and your local O'Reilly's should have remanufactured longblocks you can purchase. Also check Summit Racing and Jegs.

Around here, there are guys that can rebuild your engine if you take it to them. They usually advertise on Marketplace. My brother had a LQ4 rebuilt from a local guy for $2500 last summer. He's actually a reputable builder for performance builds, but also does OEM rebuilds.

Otherwise you are at the mercy of your local shops. Not sure what your options are locally? Have you asked around?
