I wonder if the OP saw my post from years ago when I did this on my black truck. It's been a while since I did this, but I think I just did a search for adhesive backed door molding. I found molding that tapered at the end(s), but as I recall I couldn't order the exact length. So, I ordered enough, with 4 tapered ends, and then I had to splice together the pieces to get the proper length and have the ends taper.

Also, I recall that it was a bit of a PITA, 'cause I had to dremel out "pockets" from the underside of the molding for the outserts to stick up into (or else the molding wouldn't lay flat, as you can imagine). This wasn't as easy as I thought because you had to dremel through the double-sided tape backing at first (which got a bit messy). With the right tools and more patience, it's NOT a tough job, really.

I'll try to locate some pics of when I had this on my truck...

I did read one where someone had to clearance the backside for the nutserts, as I figured I'd be doing. But the thread was older and the pics didn't work any more. It very well may have been yours. Tedious projects that require precision to result in visually perfect appearance are kinda my thing.

I'm not sure what I'd rather do- get a long roll of molding and cut it to length and finish the ends or get shorter molding with pre-finished ends and mold the splices together. I guess it depends on the number of splices. I'm thinking the former would be better.

Are the Esky/Denali side rails lower profile, or are you just not wanting anything taller than the roof ribs that are there?

Here's mine with the universal 1.5" self-adhesive molding. Easy to trim the ends with a tapered end. Came from Dawn Enterprises on Amazon, but I see they no longer carry it. I also had to Dremel the back side, but it wasn't too bad. Sorry I don't have a better photo but my Yukon is in Florida and I'm in SC.IMG_5321.JPG

The Esky/Denali rails certainly look better. But they're still very protrusive and I'm aiming for as clean-shaven as possible. If welding up the holes and painting the roof was an option at the moment, this thread wouldn't exist.

I'd be quite happy with that. I found Dawn Enterprises' site and they have a find-a-retailer link. Thanks for the info!

Yep, I think you saw my post...

Unlike SRQ, I used a narrower molding. I think there are trade-offs between the various widths. The narrower molding will maybe be less visually obtrusive, but it also is more flexible side-to-side, and so aligning it perfectly straight might just take some more attention than something much wider.

Whatever you go with, it'll like be one of those things that only you really notice -- but it does completely clean up the roof lines and make the truck look great.
