Hey guys, I live in NE Ohio and go to school in Central OH where the winter road clearing strategy is literally just put so much salt down the snow doesnt stick to the road... After 9 years and 205,000 Miles you could say my beloved Yukon has become a bit rusty to say the least.

Anyhow in a few months I am planning on taking the body off and stripping the frame down as much as possible to grind/blast/wire wheel as much of the rust off as I can and then paint everything with POR15 to hopefully combat the rust for a few years.

Having never taken a truck down to the frame like this I was wondering if some of you guys can give me some tips on things to look out for in this process??
Special tactics on wires and hoses?
Ideas on jacking the body up high enough to roll the chassis out? (Dont have a lift)
Am I crazy?

Thanks in advance

Its not too bad at all.. I just done a swap of bodies on a good frame. I would take dog house off. both bumpers also. then its just AC/heater lines/ park brake cable shifter, some wiring under convience center, fuel fill hose and then some wiring at rear on RH inter fender area. What I did was use some real HD tall jack stands at all four corners. Then I built some 8' long double thickness boards to across the stands to hold the body. I jacked its up with some platform jacks on each side. Then I just rolled the frame out from under neath.

Thanks for the info!
Could you be more specific on "some wiring under the convenience center"

What about all the stuff on the firewall Master Cylinder and such...

i tried to reply to your PM.. I dont have enought post to do that yet????? the convenience center/fuse center is basically where alot of wiring ends. ITs all plug in though and it will only go back one way, the way its supposed to go..
ALL fuel lines will stay with frame, but the brake lines will have to be split at the block below the master...
