If it's the regular Bose (not the LUX) then yes easy to test. The non LUX is whats called a dumb amp. It's basically a 5 channel amp with speaker level inputs.
The amp inputs/HU outputs should be as follows:

The non LUX systems HU output a speaker level output so it would be easy to check to see if your are getting an audio output off it by using an old speaker. The amp can be tested by using a modified head phones jack and any MP3 or device that allows you to listen to it with head phones...
