Haven't been outside today. Taking care of a newborn lol. I'm gonna check it out tomorrow though
the reason I ask is because the service brake light without a abs light at the same time only means a couple things
1. the fluid is low
2 the fluid sensor is faulty
3. proportioning valve is stuck
not 100% sure if these are the only possibilities if it has hydroboost or not, but since it does not and the cluster thinks it does then it could just be the sensor, presuming no brake work was done recently?
also presuming this is the case, unplugging the brake fluid sensor (if equipped) should make the service brake light go off. in which case you could troubleshoot the sensor or replace it I think they run about $25.00 but if unplugging does not work then it's something else.

It makes sense now... I was thinking something mismatched with ECM. Like it didn't recognize the truck it was in. But, the cluster from another mother makes total sense of your issue!

At least:
A) You don't have a real issue or expensive repair to do
B) There is a solution.

I had a 2003 Yukon with the same problem. My research revealed a couple of ideas for solution. No Guarantee but maybe worth checking. Forgive me it was along time ago but this is what I remember. It was maddening, I do remember that. 1. Ground wire loose or not making good contact under driver side. 2. Small canister Approx 1.75" X 6" tall or so hanging from the booster on the left as you look at it from the grill. There is a vacuum tube running to the back near firewall along with a wire loom with plug in on top. If memory serves me this was a vacuum assist and only on these tahoe/yukon for 2 years. I was unable to find a new one as GM ceased making them I was told a couple of times. I did find a used one on line but never installed it due to (see end of story) End of story is sadly inclusive. Before I was able to source and fix the problem, Tranny crapped out and someone offered me more $ than I thought it was worth. I wrestled this problem with the code for months, but never noticed any other symptoms or problems to go with the code on the dash. It was one of three tahoes and yukons I had at the time so I maybe put 2k miles on it at best. Just thought I'd share these details since I did not see it mentioned with other posts.

Ok so I checked brake fluid level and it's good. Disconnected sensor and the issue remained. I check power steering fluid and it's pretty low so I guess I'll try adding some. Only thing I don't know about is the proportioning valve. Where is it located?

if the message did not go away with the sensor disconnected then it's not the valve.
for future reference the valve is right under the brake fluid tank where it splits off the front & rear brake lines, you don't want to mess with any of that.
must be in the cluster software, if you have a speedometer shop around they can usually flash them or look on craigslist/offer up lots of guys do cluster repairs and can usually flash them as well. otherwise there are shops online but you would have to send it out, you can drive around with no cluster installed if you end up having to send it out. just don't get pulled over usually a speedometer is required in all vehicles or its a fix it ticket or they may let you go if you explain what happened.
if the message just popped up out of nowhere after you had been driving it a while then you could try and disconnect the battery and see if it goes away until it comes back again, could be the cluster software looking for a specific signal and when it does not see it then it pops the message. like others said that is a stand alone error it's not a driveability thing

I'm gonna go get it put on a code reader also just to make sure it isn't a larger problem. Could it be that the power steering fluid is low?
