brake suggestions

Time for me to do my brakes. Wanna upgrade but nothing extreme. Any suggestions without having to do too much modifications.

Good info on that thread. The NNBS brake upgrade gives you a bigger rotor than our NBS trucks. If not interested in that route (kinda wish I would have done it), you can try the Powerstop 1 click kit here. And other guys might chime in with other set ups R1 Concepts, etc... Putting new brakes on is a good call no matter which direction you take to stop the 2 ton beast.

I put this set up on my 06 Tahoe with new rotors and pads as my calipers were in good condition and I did not increase the rotor size like the NNBS upgrade. Haven't had any issues, no noise, limited dust and they work. Still does not stop on a dime, but a bit better than OEM after the change out. Good luck.

Whats all involved with changing rotors and calipers. Is there any cutting and mod needing to be done or something I can do myself???

Nothing really. Can be done with hand tools. Well that depends where you live. I love in New England so my front rotors were rusted on. I had to grind and use a air hammer to split the rotor at the hub to get them off.

If you're upgrading from a gm800 to 900 ull need the rotors, pads, calipers and brackets. You will also need at least 17 rims to clear the bracket

The upgrade to the gm900 brakes is literally as easy as if you were replacing your stock pads,rotors and calipers. You need to run at least 17" wheels thought if I remember correctly. The new calipers will have the correct brackets, at least mine did.

I don't know if I got a bad set of pads or what, but when I swapped my original brake pads and rotors at 90k, I went with R1 Concepts ceramic pads and drilled/slotted rotors, and while they perform ok, they don't have the low speed "bite" that my original brakes had. I'm very close to buying a set of OEM replacement pads at the dealer and installing them to see if they perform batter.

You'll just have to bleed the system as well as run at least 17" rims, otherwise it's just like changing pads and rotors.
