brakes: rotors, calipers, pads, and lines?

Thanks man, im going to go check that out. stops alright now, but better is always good.

I am the one that first posted this in Z71Tahoe-Suburban.com, I installed this on my 04 Avalanche the first week on September 2010 and I am still amazed over the improved peformance of the brakes!

I'll be doing (at least) rotors and pads next time I need brakes.

I am new to this forum. I have to say it is very informative and havent had any trouble finding answers to my questions. I have an 05 Denali XL and I tow 26ft travel tralier with the family. I just ordered the calipers with brackets from the local dealer. Havent decided if I am going to with standard rotors or the slotted ones yet. Let everyone know what I will end up with and how the install went once I do it.

I also have an SCT tuner that I am going to start to play with too.

Let us know how you like the stock rotors if you go that route. I'll be trying to do this upgrade once my i need brakes and all. But unsure like you as to slotted or stock rotors. probly for me will depend upon pricing.

Pads I used are Performance Friction 1092.10 that can be purchased on eBay for $40 w/free shipping or at a local Orielly Auto Parts or Autozone for around $80!

Remember that you will need the caliper brackets too!

Recently I did the swap on my other Burb and used stock type smooth rotors and the difference is really obvious, the slotted rotors really make a big difference.

What brand of rotor did you use. I am still up in the air about going OEM or the slotted rotors. Do you feel that there was a better advantage going with the slotted?

Slotted rotors alone probably won't offer much. With a good matching performance pad, stainless lines, & a good bleeding you'll probably shorten your stopping distance a few feet.

On my 94 I did Poweslot rotors, Hawk pads, & Russel SS lines...overall, I think my 0-60 stopping distances shortened by 7-10 feet if I remember my results right...it was a few years ago. Feel & response were the biggest improvements over stock.

Think I mentioned this already...but did the install on a 04 Avalanche and 03 Suburban with the exact same parts except rotors, used smooth rotors on the Suburban and its nowhere as good as the Avalanche.

GMT900 upgrade with smooth rotors is still a improvement over the stock GMT800 brakes...but I would stick with the slotted rotors.

I don't like how the painted calipers came out on the Avalanche, makes it look ricer. The Suburbans calipers are unpainted and starting to surface rust, they should be at least painted Black.

My cost on them is was $73.00 each. I dont know what they retail for. I am an operations manager at a local salvage yard and I have accounts with dealers and auto parts stores. I do my best not to pay retail.

You did mention that you used the slotted on your Avalanche. I was just curious what brand rotor you went with. Brembo? EBC?........
