Brand new rotors have grooves??

Check this BS out - I went to three different Oreilly's and had them pull every front left caliper they had on the shelves. Everyone was packaged with the standard/generic pad clips (no spring/prong to push pads away from the rotor). Not a single one would take the stock-style clips with prongs. I about lost my shit as I had already spent the better part of the day installing the passenger side. I even had them pull a couple of passenger side calipers, which were packaged with and accepted the stock-style clips. WTAF?

Driving home, pissed - stopped in the Autozone with 15mins to close. Asked to look at their calipers, same part #/same style caliper with the letter GM on the cylinder as Oreilly - but they were packaged with the correct clips.

What's with these clips? Can't say that I've seen them on other vehicles, don't think my 02 Yukon had them.

Now I get to undo/redo everything I did today.. Why is everything a pita these days, nothing, and I mean nothing comes correct it seems and it's always the stupidest shit, f'n pad clips.
As an aside, my understanding is the anti-drag clips / springs were only added with the ‘09+ calipers. I may be incorrect, but that’s why I went with ‘09 calipers, and not ‘07-08. (And, even with that, I don’t have the actual clips installed… so need to source, and add them next brake job. Lol)

You could use a little grease on the threads. I wouldn't use threadlocker unless you plan to change calipers next time; the bleeders can get pretty stuck all by themselves over time.
I'm wondering why the sell new bleeder valves with red thread locker on them? I'm thinking about trying them out, but again most sources say not to use it. Teflon degrades in brake fluid and can clog lines, I assume if anything the thread locker would dissolve and not likely clog anything? What do you think?

you're probably seeing the quick bleeder style bleeder. as said, it's just sealant because how those work is you loosen them, they have a one way check ball in them so you can pump the brakes, the sealer is there so doesn't suck air thru the threads. when tight they sell at the bottom.

you have a issue with the cone at the bottom of the bleeder or the caliper. pull the bleeder out, blow out the hole and look for any crude in there. check the bleeder that the base is a smooth cone shape. and then put it back together. or return the caliper as bad.

The Bleeder valve will not stop weeping no matter how tight I make it??

It is an incredibly minor seep around the threads, I have to stick the corner of a paper towel into the threads to see any wetness.

I am reading that using thread locker or Teflon is not a good idea; however, I also see brand new bleeder vales that come with thread locker on them - so what's the deal??
i think they sell those at the autoparts store I would just go grab another one and see what happens could be thread out of spec, some tiny piece in a groove or anything like that

As I said before, nothing comes correct anymore This is the bleeder I took out of the passenger side caliper (havet installed yet), metal in the hole and threads split, burr on bottom surface next to "cone" ( it's not even a cone. Guy at AutoZone says, u can return the caliper ..mfr, I'm not taking this off again. Look at the difference between what cam in the caliper (on right) and a Dorman universal replacement.IMG_20230514_141634.jpg

put in the Doprman replacement bleeder valve and still having a seep. I have to stick the corner of a paper towel into the space between threads on the bottom of the bleeder and keeps coming back wet.

WTF - I'm so annoyed. if I pull this caliper and get a replacement., whats to say the replacement won't do the same thing?

ugh - this is some bs.

this is what I was talking about, it might need to be reamed, might have to bite the bullet and just exchange it and be done with it.
