I was going to put headers on my yukon yesterday, and I got the first 3 Manifold bolts out on each side, and the 2 rear bolt on each side broke off. It looks like they have been broken for quite some time, but just noticed when there was more pressure on the rear bolts. Has anyone had this problem? They are broke off in the head. Thank god my dad has a GM dealership they can go it at!! So if your putting headers on, loosen the rear bolt first.

Are you serious? You could get away with pulling the heads off... But O well, I won't have to worry about pulling the heads off! Haha

Thanks

Ya, but its going to be hard to get something to get the bolts outta the head. They are in there 1/4. So I will see what our mechanic says tomorrow!

Well we tried all we could try to get them out with the heads still on, and we had no luck. So the motor is now sitting with the heads off, and 2 broken manifold bolts in the head. We tried a Snapon easy out, and it broke off into the head as well. These bolts won't come out at all. We have a Set of CNC Ported GM Performance Parts heads that my dad might let me put on. So we will see!!!

Here is a pic of how it is sitting now..

well if you are this car into it and going to put ported heads on you might as well throw a cam in.

The heads fell through, because we just sold them.....Which sucks! I have a whole other complete motor that I am going to put a cam in, then swap motors.

To fix your problem you need to buy a good set of "TAP & DIE" and a set of drill bit.

I hope you know what I'm talking about....(to lazy to go into detail on the how to.) but i think you're smart enough to figured it out.......good luck.:happy107:
