bump-stop / 'jouncer'

Hello once again to my fellow GM gearheads...

I've searched the internet trying to find replacement bump-stops, otherwise known as 'jouncers', for the front lower control arms on my 1996 Tahoe 4x4.

If anyone has replaced them recently and knows the part number, source, or can provide a link, I'd be grateful...

I did the same a few months ago. I searched and searched and ended up going to the dealer. I think rockauto has some, but there are a few different ones depending on your VIN.

Mine were both totally trashed as in wasted, gone, half eaten away. It looked as if they were like that for maybe 5-8 years or more.

As I was replacing them, I noticed that the one side was worse. I looked closely at the "dish" that they contact on the control arm and found lots of little balls of weld slag stuck to the dish area. (made in the USA?) I took a chisel and knocked them off easily.

Had I not done that, Im positive in 5000 miles they would have been toast again.

There was a thread like this not so long ago I thought and the OP there complain they were too much...however could not find them anywhere else. I have dealt with LMC and have been pleased

I feel your pain.

I upgraded to the Z-71 option jounce stops. They are a bit smaller and made from much tougher material.

Which ones are better "E" or "F"?

These are on my fix-it list. All the bump stops on my truck have rotted away.

I ordered "F" - Mitty mentioned the Z71 jouncers were smaller. I have a lifted rig and I actually want to lower the front a little bit more, so these are perfect for me.

B/c they are smaller, it always me to decrank the front more before i hit them (allowing the shocks to do more of the work). Mitty also mentioned they're harder, so I'm guess if i hit hard, it will be a rougher ride.

To sum it up...if you run a OEM suspension and like it, stick with "E" b/c I'm guessing it's a more progressive material. If you want to lift your rig, I would get "F" b/c it will allow you some flexibility.

I've never seen these jouncers, so this is allll theory.
