its more a preference than anything
the only difference is one has a metal tube and one has plastic
I think plastic looks fine and doesnt conduct heat as much (Love mine)
as far as performance you basically just free up the engine to breathe in a lot easier and take out a lot of restriction in the stock intake.
You can expect a mpg or two from it as well
