I have been searching around for cams for my 4.8 locally and a shop recommended 212/218 texas speed cam with 115 lsa. I am looking for something thats not too choppy where its too noticeable. Do you guys think that these cams are good enough? I'm trying to squeeze out as much power out of my 4.8 that's why I have been considering buying a turbo kit from xs-power turbo. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? I know they are the ones that build LPP headers so I figured their turbos would be legit.

My Tahoe is a daily driver but I want it to be quick... Nothing crazy that will break the engine

Intake, Long tube headers, exhaust, cam and valve springs, hardend push rods, stall, and gears and a good tune. That will make your truck pretty fast.

I already have an intake, exhaust, headers is on its way and received my tuner earlier this week. Would the cams I posted work well?

Will gears affect my mpg?

your better off swapping it to a 5.3, call texas speed for a "package" and you will be happy for atleast a week till you want more. :driver:

XS power turbo kits are complete junk. Its all universal parts that need to be modded to work on any vehical.

If you really want a turbo kit, look to trick performance and get a diesel catback.
This kit is actually designed to fit in your vehical.

I don't want to go through all the trouble swapping out to a 4.8. I have contacted comp cams and they recommended a 212 212 with valve lift of .522 .522 on a 115 LSA. If I do go with this can, I may just get a 2000-2500 stall converter. Is there a certain brand converter that you guys recommend?

Big beat me to it.
I added a Yank 3200 billet stall to my previous and that by far was the best mod. I also had a FLT trans, full exhaust header high flow cats and Maggy muf all 2.5", intake and 3:73s.

Gears will effect your MPGs, a stall will to. As long as you're not on it all the time you should be fine with a stall. Gearing though, you'll have to get it tuned for that gearing so your speedo reads it correctly.

baba,
As far as I know there is no difference, they are both 4l60e transmissions. Well, that is unless he has a 6 speed, hah.
