Can’t tell if my oil to full. Seems to go past the hashmarks. No symptoms of to-full oil though

I drained the old oil all the way and put 6 quarts of fresh oil in my 2014 Tahoe.

The only time the dipstick will read accurately is when the vehicle is parked on a level surface, the engine is cold (ideally sat overnight), and you pull the dipstick out, wipe it off, put it back in, pull it back out, and check it then. Given that you just drained it and put in 6 quarts, I'd say you're good. These engines can run 2 quarts high and still not run into any problems. I find that the refill capacity after an oil change is actually about 5.5 quarts on both of mine, so mine always reads about 1/2 quart high after an oil change.

Alright. I think I’m good. Just did it myself for the first time so of course I’m a bit nervous ha.

I ran it to operating temp and then shut it off on the most level surface I could find. These are the results I got. And yea i pulled it, wiped it and then put it back in then checked it.

Of course it feels a little nerve-wracking when it's your first time changing the oil yourself. Good job!

been a week since the change and it’s running fine. I only posted this cause I checked it while changing and couldn’t get a good read cause I changed it on a slight grade so I just threw 6qt in and called it a night.

Also, it’s been years since I changed own oil on mine - remind me is there a gasket on the drain plug?
