Can anyone take a pic of their glass hatch?

Hoping somebody can tell me what’s wrong with this stupid latch. Fourth oh July it decided not to latch closed anymore. Tried slamming it etc. hopefully a picture can show me that it shifted or something? TIA

Oh gosh, don't slam it! The hasp is stuck... The part that catches the pin on the window. You'll aggravate it further if you slam it. Try getting a hook and gently working that mechanism until it works it's way out. Spray it with some WD 40 or silicone spray grease.

It's likely the cable mechanism is sticking on the release for the hasp. It's actually easy to get at the guts if wiggling on the hasp doesn't work. You'll need a plastic panel puller, then remote the trim panels on the rear hatch. Takes about 10 minutes.

Then you have complete access to the mechanicals for that latch.

The latch seems to flip up and down when I push the button. It’s just too damn hot to mess with it today. Thanks, I’ll try some lube for now

Here's what it should look like when it's in the "released" (open) position:



When the striker hits the top of the black plastic piece, it should rotate toward the front of the truck, and stay.



When it's open you should be able to rotate that black plastic piece into the closed position and it should stay there. Release it using the button. If it doesn't stay, you'll likely need to lubricate the mechanism below, or a new latch.

The latch, hasp, whatever it's called, the black plastic piece... It's coated with a THICK plastic cover. Sometimes that cover flakes apart and gets caught in the mechanism jamming it up. Between the latch itself and the copper colored / metal, plate holding it.

pretty sure you just need to take a large flat head screw driver and wedge it in there and unjam the locking mechanism (pry it up), looks like it is stuck down farther than it should be,
with any luck it should be a easy fix, it's happened to me maybe twice in the last 20 years

The mechanism works fine. When all else fails, beat it with a hammer. Works now lol. It was cockeyed a wee bit to the right.

Thanks for the help guys. At least I’ve got it shut where I can leave it while on vacation now
