Can anyone tell me the purpose of this clamp and what it is intended to hold? Feel free to weight in on how important the clamp is too. The 3 pictures of my 2002 Yukon. The pictures were taken from the passenger side of the vehicle looking to the rear of the vehicle. For clarity so you are no guessing at what you are looking at, the picture is of the axle. The first 2 pictures are how I found the clamp partially in placing, not fully connected and the last picture was of clamp once I pushed it back into place. If you do re-route the line thru that factory clamp make sure that the brake line itself is elevated above that rise on the axle. You don't want the line held in place and rubbing on that high spot next to it. The clamp itself is meant to raise the line away from the rise but if you redo it, make sure you keep the line elevated a little to avoid the rubbing.

Agreed it’s for the brake line. I had to buy new clamps for my Silverado because when they narrowed the rear end they left them off. They’re nice to be able to hold the brake line nice and solid; mine had been moving around a little without them and I could see where they had rubbed a bit but that was mainly because the body moves up and down 10” or so since it’s bagged. When you replace yours, just be sure the line is away from everything like others have said.
