OK, I've got it removed.

It turns out clearance is too tight to comfortably attach a ratchet to the spanner wrench and use the 36mm wrench. I ended up having to go to O'Reilly and rent their serpentine belt tool kit (P/N 67061) since it's a slim profile. It was a little awkward but after a few whacks with my deadblow (trying to limit damage for easy returns) hammer everything came loose.

If you want to avoid having to rent the serpentine tool like I did you can probably get Lisle's spanner wrench with a longer handle (P/N 44180).

Oh yea, totally. I don't really have one and going this route I can get all my money back with no fuss.
That’s cool. I just hate buying one-time-use tools if I can get away with using something I have laying around. If a guy does disc brakes he probably has a big c-clamp to collapse the cylinders in the calipers.
