I'm not sure what kind of groceries you're buying, but mine are very rarely heavy, round, and/or lying down with the exception of maybe a watermelon.

Also, I would note that it looks like technically, the net held it.

Milk, eggs, cereal boxes, cans of soup. Normal human food mostly.

I keep a plastic tub in the back of my Yukon. it holds 2-3 bags of groceries and whatever else I don't want flying around. It's held at the rear of my cargo area by 2 bungee's stretched from the rear loops on the left and right side. Lifts right out when I don't want it there.
