Some people lovem, some people hatem.

Not sure, somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. I dont think they regulate the emissions the same with boats as they do with cars/trucks.

I wonder the same thing That doesnt make any sense what so ever.

Nice F350, what a beast, I've always liked that body style. Just waiting to see what brand loyal guys are going to jump on you for driving it :)

brand loyalty..bleh

no regulations on boat motors that I know of just saying my 96 johnson 150 is a total smoker.

the 95 f350 compared to a 95 chevy diesel is hands down ford all day and a 95 dodge the body just falls apart, now I am thinking of dropping a cummins 6 in the ford then that should really ruffle some feathers!

unknown at this time.
regulations are different between the two type of transport. if there were as many boats as cars. boats would have some restrictions on it too. it is just not a large enough problem to mandate changes in the legislation for most places. eventually changes however small or slow do get done.

it depends on community pushing the issue too. cali pushed and got 4-stroke lawn equipment.

They have changed the boating laws on outboards. They dont smoke anymore at all. We have a 2006 yami 2 stroke HPDI. gas tank and then a seperate tank for oil. It smokes a tiny bit in the winter upon start up. You go into the new motors that are say 3 years old and they dont smoke at all. They are even moving away from 2-stroke motors. Everything is going to be 4-stroke. Why? they are more economical and easier on the emissions. Ive got buddies that work at marine shops and work on the boat motors. The reason they dont regulate them as much is because theres not an aftermarket for them. Yeah you can buy aftermarket heads and such but nothing for exhaust or intakes on a boat motor. We cant change that. The boat manufacturers do that for us. =)

Hey, if your feeling froggy, do what I did on my Z28. Ripped my cats off, hit them with the grinder and removed the shell. Put in my peices of straight pipe and then welded the clam shell over top of it and put them right back on. Weird part for me was that I still have my emmissions test paperwork from before and after. Had it running this way for 6 years and it still runs cleaner than it did with cats. :D

But....if you wanna do the right thing, hack off the old factory cats and just get some high flow aftermarket ones.
