Went to oreilley's to have the computer scanned.. Came up with this

P0449
Code Definition: EVAP Vent Solenoid Control Circuit Malfunction

P0121
Code Definition: Throttle Position TP Sensor 1 Performance

What should I do to correct these? I'm assuming the second one can be hopefully corrected by cleaning the MAF and throttle body..any good writeups on how to do that? What can I do about the first code?

I should also mention that there have been complaints about a strong mysterious gas smell in my garage.. After seeing that code has to do with vent solenoid...I am fearing that is what it could be

I had the 449 code on my suburban for past 6 months. Finally I decided to do some research and replaced the
Evaporate emission canister ventilator assembly ACDelco 20995472 $42.89
GM redesigned the above part and you'll also need to get the wiring harness since the old one won't work
Evaporative emissions canister vent valve solenoid jumper wiring harness ACDelco 19257603 $17.73
I also changed the emission system purge valve ACDelco 12597567 $27.80
Problem solved. No code for 2 weeks now. Took me about an hour to do this. You'll need to lower the spare tire. Note the above prices are from amazon. All oe parts.

I believe they make a specific item for cleaning throttle bodies. I think its made CRC, get the right stuff not brake cleaner. That's ok for cleaning parts and brakes not throttle bodies.

Good luck and post up the results.

I was watching those videos as you posted this haha great videos tho just what i needed! Hopefully that will take care of my TPS code..I'm pretty optimistic about the gas cap fixing the EVAP code lol..

That's too funny, hah.
Post an update after you clean it.
Yeah, its not a common problem with the gas caps but, on occasion it does happen. I replaced mine on my OBS after getting the same code, along with pretty much the whole emissions system, hah.

Heres some pics for ya guys...I took the throttle body out and cleaned it good with cnc throttle body cleaner it was dirty as hell sorry my before pics are blurry but there was a lot of sludge and I cleaned it until there was none, as partially expected, thought maybe to this extreme but my idles and shifts were very erratic on my test drive after I reinstallled the TB..I was idling going almost 15 mph and the shift points were very off..After about 20 minutes of driving and restarting the car multiple times I think the computer is learning and restarting..Other than that I replaced the gas cap..sadly it did nothing and the gas smell was back tonight in the garage..Guess I'm going to have to replace the solenoid/vent valve assembly
