K&N has Cabin Air Filters available for the K2XX platform, which seemed much more heavy duty than the paper "Walmart":jester: filter that the truck ships with.

I was surprised how filthy the original filter was at 8,000 miles and I can say this makes a difference!

It really does depend on the environment you drive in. Going to get dirtier in the back roads of farm country....etc.

Toss that K&N in the trash and buy a new paper filter. Dirt in the filter means it's doing its job. And dirt in the filter actually helps filter the air even better than a new filter.
You K&N will look cleaner because all of the dirt will flow through it and end up right back in the cabin.
