Where is the cheapest and best place to buy TPMS sensors for a 2006 Tahoe?
Are the aftermarket sensors on RockAuto.com decent quality?
Any specific brands to stay away from?

(I searched the forum and Google but really only came up with Yeti's site that doesn't have sensors for this year model)

I've got one sensor flaking out intermittently on my stock 17's and I should be picking up a set of LTZ 20's tomorrow that are not equipped with sensors. I'd rather just pick up a new set and have them installed if I can stomach the bill. I plan on keeping the 17's for winter wheels, so I'd rather not swap the sensors from old wheel to new wheel.

UPDATE: 4 new Orange Electronics sensors were purchased, only 2 of them worked properly. I ended up spending a lot of time and money to resolve a simple issue due to these unreliable sensors. I would recommend OEM sensors to anybody needing a replacement. Amazon had new OEM sensors at the time of this update for $37+tax/shipping.

Search eBay, you should find something there for sure.

Ebay was included in my search. The best I could find was a set that claimed to be new and OEM but didn't include any warranty information. I noticed on Yeti's website that the OEM sensors were warrantied for 1 year...so the Ebay listing I came across seemed questionable.

I bought the Orange Electronics TPMS sensors. The OEM sensor listing I came across was already sold by the time I got home with the wheels. A quick Google search showed decent reviews on the Orange Electronics sensors. These were $25 each with free shipping....$108 total with tax.

I scored a set of Tahoe LTZ take-offs for $1000. They still have 11/32's tread left. I'll post back up when I get the sensors and get everything mounted up.

COOL! Very nice find on the wheels, you will like them.

Take before and after pics.

2 of the 4 sensors are not working :rage:

I've emailed the seller....but I'm not happy that I just wasted $52 to have them take 2 wheels/tires apart only to install duds.

The eBay sell gave me a full refund and asked me to cancel the sale. I'm guessing cancelling the sale is normal and just doesn't allow me to provide feedback? I was going to leave positive feedback based on his quick response and resolution of the issue....but either way.

We went to NTB today to retrieve the key to my wife's locking lug nuts. They were able to immediately program 1 of the 2 dead sensors that Discount Tire couldn't read. Maybe I should try Pep Boys next to get the last one working?

EDIT: I don't think I mentioned it...these were 4 NEW sensors. 3 of 4 boxes were sealed with an Orange Electronics perforated label. The unsealed box still contained a sealed plastic bag, so I didn't question the open box.

And for what it's worth, a 20" OEM Tahoe LTZ wheel with a 275/55R20 Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza tire weighs 81lbs.
