So I keep throwing a check engine light (95 hoe) getting a code 34 or 36, says EGR valve. Replaced with aftermarket. Still getting code sporadically.

Question is if you are not using AC Delco EGR, are you prone to throw a code for some reason? Seams like I read if you are not using factory parts for that kind if stuff you will keep getting the same code.

Anyone experience this? Thx

I had the same problem and ended up spending a little more ac delco but it solved the problem...I'll never go anything other than oem replacement again

So sounds like its legit - you not using OEM, then you are liable to still TROW a code. Why is that you suppose? EGR not that complicated...

Hmm thats a good one , I have yet to replace one on a GM i own but I did on my dodge and it did not throw a code for not using mopar , Different truck entirely but the concept is the same . Matt did you notice ANY difference between the two units when you replaced them?

I did notice the oem part was built a little better and the flow passage seemed to be more clear...I'm not saying oem is the best way, there are aftermarket parts that you could use... It's just my preference and I have no more problems after buying oem for my Tahoe ,but, I have a ford truck also " I KNOW " and I'll use aftermarket on it... It just seems tahoes love oem

Okay, got an explanation as to why. The aftermarket exhaust valve nipple is not the exact length as OEM. The exhaust valve nipple on the 95' is a touch longer than the newer models and so instead of having different specs on the entire unit, the aftermarket manufacture will adjust length of the nipple with thin washers inside the unit.

If the nipple is just a touch off, as the thin washers do not create a perfect fit, the EGR value does not fit like OEM parts that are manufactured to spec.

I guess if that little nipple is just a millimeter off it so it will cause the computer to throw a code.

That is how it was explained to me anyway.
