My check engine light has came on twice now showing the code P2096. I call to schedule an appointment with my local dealership (they are so backed up it’s over a week before I can get in). The light goes off before I can get to my appointment. I went to my first one just to see what they’d say, but of course they couldn’t do anything if the light wasn’t actively one. Any ideas?

what year is your truck?

even if the light isn't in, the code is stored. usually along with a freeze frame data of everything that was happening when the code set.

This may or may not be related to the other post about ABS & Traction Control on a 2019, but I won't move this thread to the correct year section until we know otherwise.

Might be a tuff one, how many miles on it?
things it could be
  • A faulty oxygen sensor
  • A failing fuel pump
  • Leaking injectors
  • An air leak or vacuum leak
  • A cracked exhaust manifold
  • a cracked intake
  • could maybe even be a dirty or faulty maf
  • clogged cat
  • ****** fuel

might want to throw a scanner on it and monitor the 02 sensors and see if one is being lazy maybe

It has 84,700 as of today. I put some seafoam and a full tank of premium in it on Dec 21. I have ran that tank out and filled up again today. I haven’t had the check engine light come on again yet. Fingers crossed.
