I am looking at the climate controls in my 99 tahoe and wanted to know if anyone has ever tried to swap the 96-99 climate controls with the 99-00 controls?

I don't know if it would work or not. I guess with the right wiring it just might. I believe they make this with the rear defog too...

I'm gonna pull wiring diagrams...

OK,

Looking at the diagrams, I am going to say it may be more trouble than its worth. The biggest factor is the blower on the OBS has off and 4 speeds...The 99-00 control has off and 5 speeds, so you would have to change resistors and and some wiring for sure. I'm not too sure about anything else.

I can PM you the wiring diagrams if you care to examine them...But like I said, I'm not entirely sure it would be worth doing.

yeah stick with stock. but perhaps dress it up a bit. i am sure there is some kit that gives you fancy knobs or something. i have seen interior kits before.

Besides the rewiring, the unit is larger would require cutting.

Maybe the knobs swap?
