Code P0102 MAF won't go away

For my 2002 GMC Yukon 5.3 gas, 4wd

The check engine light started coming on intermittently - code P0102. I cleaned the MAF with MAF spray, the air filter is new and the light went away. Then it started again. I cleaned everything again it went away for a few days and returned. After a few of these I replaced the MAF and now the check engine light won't go away. I rechecked everything from the connections to the MAF orientation and everything is as it should be. Any thoughts?

Maybe crusty contacts on the harness connector? You could try spraying it down with electrical contact cleaner. Cost maybe $8 (or less).

Hopefully, you have a Tech 2 scan tool.

If not, do you have one that can see live data from the MAF?

102 is low or no voltage is it not? check the pig tail wires to the maf, last ditch if you've not replaced the maf with a oem one. aka delco, the fuse box might be having a issue where the maf fuse is located. its marked ign. theres a few in the trucks.

@Mass - nope, just using the local parts places' one
that could be the issue aftermarket mafs tend to suck. your pretty much better off buying a used one off ebay. last new one i got was a delco cost like 100 on amazon or ebay. worked way better then the pos 50 dollar who knows what china brand that i wasted money on.

delphi is the same as acdelco pretty much.

id still make sure the pig tail is ok, no bare wire showing, or cracks in the insulation.

Check the Gray wire (with engine running) for 5 Vdc. Check Orange/Black wire for ground (the MASS gets its ground from the PCM). To do this stick positive lead of meter on battery positive then ground lead of meter on Orange/Black wire of MAS Wire plug. You should see 12 Vdc or higher on your meter. (Do all this with engine running). If your ground is missing then your PCM has a problem. If ground and 5vdc check good then you have a broken sensor wire (Light Green) between the MAS Sensor plug and terminal C2 32 of the PCM or a junk MAS sensor or C2 plug at PCM is corroded and needs to be disconnected and cleaned of all its green monsters.

Hey if you still have the problem. I had this issue and discovered that dirty catalytic converters can cause this. I changed my MAF and air filter too with no change.
I used a bottle of cataclean to clean the converters and it cleared it up and I haven't had it since.
