Ya air would be cool and could go really low I wonder how they ride on air. I went static because its my DD and the wife and kids use it can't have a bag busting and leave her stuck.

Guys selling sway bar and the brackets to add coilover/bags from ride tech pretty cheap. Those are the brackets that would work with the djm arm weld them on.

Yeah I'm PT.net,,,, sort of by default. I signed up on LS1tech over ten years ago and PT.net is essentially the same forum. So,,,, my LS1tech user name "Mikey 97Z M6" works on PT.net also. I did see those brackets listed but I could build/fabricate a lower/upper bag bracket for way less than the cost of those. I was actually more interested in the front sway bar but I'm broke as a joke right now with the engine/trans/rearend swap coming up.... I added it all up so far and I'm into this almost 6 grand and it's not done yet lol... :) I keep telling myself it will all be worth it when it's installed haha...

Trust me i know things are cheap and like you stated that a budget build. Things gonna rip I bet, love my 6.0 but couple bolt ons and the thing would be even better. It will be worth it when you bang gears and surprise people when they can't keep up lol.

Updates:

So I finally got to get a good trip on the pro comp mounts. Around town and back roads it drives ok. The highway is a different story, big rolling bumps the truck oscillates 2-3 times after and a few bigger bumps I'm pretty sure I hit the bump stops. I'm thinking this is occurring because I don't have a lot of down piston travel for suspension to soak it up. Also re-measured my ground to fender and I'm 31.5 on driver side and 32 on passenger side with coil adjusted about the same. I'm going to crank up driver side a little and see how much it effect passenger side as I'm hoping in my head it will drop a little. The truck still just feels smoother driving it and steering is crisp, hard to explain but you can feel it. Also I like to drive it like a race car some times, I don't baby it, man does it handle and react great.


Thoughts:

So in my head it was smoother with stud top cause I was able to get in middle of piston travel. So now my heads turning cause I need to address this issue. I need to either lower the mounting somehow on current set up, and then use coil over to get back up to correct ride height with correct piston travel.

OR

I'm going to go back to stud top and add some washer to try to raise starting height and adjust from there. Learning towards this
.

Side notes:

>My spring might be not rated high enough for my truck. I have 1300 pound spring I couldn't find any thing with a heavier rating. Stronger spring could change the game and hold truck up easier therefore adjusting would be different.

> Thinking I could of got away with the Qa1 DS303 coilover a little taller might of worked well with stud top.

Man your Nali was slammed. I still say something else is wrong b/c of the unsafe bouncing. Mine even on 0 setting is not that bad w/ the 1200 lb spring. Sure it bounces up and down, (see my thread and the video of me bouncing my Tahoe that's 0 setting) but nothing terrible or unsafe and I drove on the freeway for a little like that and have since played with the settings. Still playing with them.

Hope you get it figured out. I'll try to think about it.

The bouncing appears to be much better after he turned the shock setting up. Im surprised he hasnt updated this thread in a while :lol:

Thanks for your help boys. Ive been really busy with work and the family and the spare time i had i was all over the front suspension. Now to say i do have an update and i will update the thread!!!!

UPDATE:

I have some good news to report back. After a long week of picking Richard (atomic) and Mike (tahoewhat) brain, and fooling with the suspension, Im back in the game.

I turned the coil overs up to try to get into more of the middle of the travel of the shock. I gave a shot for a few trips and on the highway it was oscillating out of control wasn't safe. I was worried and feared the worst i was going to have to remove the swap which I REALLY LIKE. After talking to Richard about a million things it could be, he said try turning the shock setting all the way up and give it a try. So i jacked the knob all the way up, it took me all week to take a test run. Finally yesterday i got out to the highway and headed towards those damn bumps, i hit them doing 70-75 and WOW just turning them it rode great to compared before. Handle the bumps damn good, i even kinda like the ride at setting 18.

I hope i have some adjustment still so Im going to go down a click at a time and hit the same bumps until it goes out of control so i know my adjustment range.

At the moment the things all jacked up, fronts at about 32.5 and 32.75 and the rear i have aired up to 33.25 which is like 30ish psi. I also think I'm not 60% downward travel on piston so I'm going to switch back over to the stud top with some more spacing on the stud top, that way i can get to 60% of travel and i want the truck to be around 31.5-32 up front and that will let me air out the back to 32.25 which i usually run 5-10 psi in the bags. Hopping that works and lets me get into right ride height i want. Ill be doing that once i have some free time for now I'm driving like it is.

Im VERY HAPPY i solved the issue and did the conversion, it handles great and the wheel just feels smoother and easy to turn. I have a little more dialing into do and get the correct ride height. I will post up more results and updates as i changes things.

Also tossed my 22's on, this is pretty much how she sits now. lowered the back a little since.

yeah, I thought about Atomic and weight and figured maybe atomic would have an idea. B/c i honestly can not think of why it would bounce up and down that bad. (im sure we have all seeen my video of bouncing but drove alright like that, just bottomed out too much.)

Glad turning up the settings and making them firmer helped out a lot, but still don't think you should have to do that to run coil overs. But we are all learning on this though.

Hopefully I'll be able to mess with mine again in the next few months and then I'll have some updates for ya and im going to slam the heck out of it just b/c i want to. ha ha..

Keep us updated, mine and Blkouts thread died out. lol

The suspension is basically a spring-damper system, and this applies to any suspension. You have the spring (be it coil, leaf, or torsion bar) that controls the amount of travel in the system. The second part is the damper (the shock) that controls the frequency of oscillation. Heres a figure:

So basically what im getting at is if the system travels too far, you need a stiffer spring, but if its too bouncy (also called underdamped) then you need a stiffer shock.

Also keep in mind these are universal shocks, probably designed for cars half the weight of these trucks/suvs.

Atomic - I think I asked you that or your put that in my thread or one of these threads, about bouncing and needing a stiffer shock.

With that last comment about these shocks being probably designed for cars,(which i believe) do you think if we found a stiffer shock for the weight, the bouncing / would change.

Not sure really how to ask that. I guess would a shock built for the weight better handle the load of our vehicles or would the spring be more of the culprit?
