If the fuel filter is clogging up, you would have drivability issues as well as start-up issues. If it is a 95 model or prior with a throttle body and no injector system, then pumping the gas a little while starting may help, but obviously wont solve the problem.
Fuel pressure regulator could be the case as well, but again, you would be having drivability issues ( misfiring, stalling out, sluggish response ).
Another good thing to check is you cap and rotor, they may have some build-up on them. Possibly your timing is off just a little?
caps good i when to change it a few months back and it was in good shape, i dont have stall problems, JUST long cranking, and only when its cold or the first start of the day...
