Started my truck this morning. It was a weak start. Straining to turn over. Def due to the cold weather. I just did a new alternator in this, the plugs and wires were done last summer. Could it be my battery finally going? I dont want to deal with this when it gets to 0 deg guys please help.

Things that have already been done.

Fuel Pump
Sending unit
Fuel Filter
Alternator
plugs
wires

It starts fine after a quick 2 mile run to the store but after sitting a cold night in the driveway..its tough to start. Any idea boyS?

Battery has a sticker on it that says 2007. Is it time for a new one? Its a cheap battery .

Check connections at the battery....cables and the bolts themselves.

My battery bolts were so corroded after 10 years there was barely anything left. Between new bolts and cleaning up all the connections with a wire wheel and applying dielectric grease, that had my truck turning over faster and the whole electrical system woke up...better voltage everywhere.

I just had to replace a battery in my fiance's car. Im in FL so by no means as cold by you but it did hit low 50s the day the battery died and they said it was because of the cold... After the battery the car starts perfect now.

Good Luck start with the battery..

run it by a shop and have 'em do a battery test, takes 2 minutes...mine was getting hard to start and my dad's shop hooked up the battery tester, tested bad, got a new battery, starts better now.

x2, have someone test the battery. chances are if you replaced the alternator recently the old one wasnt charging the battery very well, and slowly draining the battery. Also check for good connections and especially a good ground. My guess is time for a replacement, better now then no start in 15 degree weather.

Mine's been hard starting too, but I think it's due to the fact that it's been -20 F about every night the past week. How cold is "cold" where you are? Cold enough for a block heater?

Yeah, y'all beat me to this. But I'm going to add some stuff. It was 19F this morning, same symptoms. I was actually worried that me Hoe wasn't going to start. But- everything is new. New battery, new cables, new alternator, new effing everything, as you'll know if you've been around here for longer than a week. I'm kinda thinkin' about adding a second battery? Where would I put a second battery? I can't do a block heater. Thoughts?
