Hello! I am kinda new to the forum but am needing some advice here. I have for a while now been wanting a Tahoe/Yukon from 2001-2005. I have been looking around and found a nice 2001 Yukon Denali with 230k miles on it, its fully loaded with everything. The guy is asking 5k for it. I am going to see if I could really bring him down but was wondering if there should be any major concern with a truck with this much mileage on it or how long it is going to last. Im not really going to be towing much of anything at all and am just wanting a nice SUV as my nice car and use my other car as my daily driver.

Should I just look around some more with some others with less mileage or just try to bring him down on the price? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Less miles for $5k would be preferable. Check to see whats been replaced, if there has been any body work done to it, etc. $5k seems like too much for that many miles, Denali or not.

an 01 with that many miles id give him half of what hes asking
i would never recomend buying anything with that many miles on it
its a big gamble if it was well taken care its possible to easily get another 100k miles out of it or it mite not have been well taken care of and you mite have a catastrophic engine failure the second it hits 231k miles
if you do buy it i spend a grand or so having a mechanic go through the engine and replace all yer seals head gaskets radiator hoses fan clutch tranny fluid the works

look underneath for any kinda wet spots or if its extremely clean
if you crawl underneath the vehicle and it looks spotless be very suspicious

Ok thanks! Ya he was at first asking $5300 then came down to $5k. I already knew he was asking way to much. I know a close friend that was a GM Engineer and when I look at one I will bring him with me.

I wouldn't buy a truck with 230k on it.

What is your budget, and where are you located?

My budget right now is around $5k. Im in Middle Tn.

I think if you look around, you could find something with 100k less miles for the same price. Might be a Tahoe, not Denali, but still.

Your right. All the good ones are a bit aways from me, around 1+hrs away but I think it might be worth it.

Hell, I've considered driving 3+ hours to look at a car before. I wouldn't be scared to drive an hour or more to make sure I was getting a good deal on a well cared for vehicle.

ive driven 2-3 hours a few times and left empty handed. worth the $80 in fuel vs something you dont want. and around here $5k will get you a lower mileage vehicle but itll look and run like shit. i sold my 2001 4x4 tahoe LT for $5500. first gut to look at it bought it. had 220k miles but well taken care of. trans done 20k miles before that with paperwork.
