DON'T SELL!!!! It's the family truck. Especially with all the mods and effort you have in it.

Also, in college it will be great to have. Plenty of opportunities to use, especially with girls (in school they travel in packs), and on road trips the guys can chip in for gas.

You said "considering" which means you really don't want to. The selling price you will get will suck and you will likely regret it. Besides, you can lease an "efficient" car for $150 a month these days.

DCT, you've got a point about the family truck thing, but the MPG is killing me right now. Its a good and bad thing, cuz i hesitate before i go anywhere, which is good cuz i use less gas, but bad because i want to be able to drive somewhere without having to think twice about it. for the girls thing, I already have a girl, and its our 5 year anniversary this december, and the roadtrip thing is true. What i may do is buy some cheap-o saturn on CL for like $2k or something... but ill keep the ad up in case i get someone is really interested.

i was considering lowering it if i kept it. I have read that lowering will increase MPG. Any truth in this?

I agree w/ don't sell. Its your call though. I have a lowered 99 hoe, a stock 04 hoe and a slightly modded 94 camaro. Love driving each and of the 3 camaro get best MPG. I was thinking about just slapping 1500$ on a lil commuter Honda for the next year or so while I'm traveling. Everybody has to do what's best for them but I love my hoes. Won't give them up.

I understand the girlfriend thing, but she may have friends for your friends on those college road trips. It's all good.

For me, I have sold so many cars I wish I kept but couldn't because I was in school and needed the cash. I know how you feel. School is short term and you will be making more cash before you know it. Maybe you can sell it to a relative so it stays in the family. Can you tell I'm a family guy. Example: Years ago I sold my dad's '72 Cadillac coupe, I will never forgive myself. Ever.

I say keep it. I had an ad up for mine earlier in the year and I was asking $8500. The best offer I got was $8000, but I wanted to keep the truck so I didn't bite. I ended up buying a $1000 car to commute and kept my truck.

mine is a 5spd too. only mods are suspension and wheels. i redid the headliner, replaced the water pump, valve cover gasket, thermostat, oil change and some other little odds and ends but parts are very inexpensive. I got all my maintenance stuff for under $200. I had to replace the shifter bushing a few weeks ago and the fuel pump quit recently but for $1000 bucks I'm not complaining. And it's got 211k on it and still runs strong.

awesome! if i could find one for $1k, i would jump on it ASAP. the ones i've found are all priced between $2-3k, but i can always try to haggle them down. Ill keep an eye out for something that jumps at me.
