I am in the process of installing an Entropy Radiator which came with two larger more powerful fans in an integrated sort of shroud. Unfortunately, they use a Metronix 280 connector which is not the same as the factory harness connector. I have the parts to make my own Metronix 280 connectors, but I really don't like modifying factory harnesses if I can avoid it. I see two options. One is to the get the correct connector for the harness side and make an adapter to go between the Metronix 280 on the new fans, and the factory harness. That is my preferred route, but I absolutely can not find the fan side connector that would go into the factory harness. The best I can tell, the factory harness uses an R14A2 connector, but I can only find the pigtail for the harness side of the connector. The fan side does not seem to be available, presumable because it is integrated into the fan/mount. The second option is to de-pin the factory connectors, and then put pins and the correct connector on to mate up with the Metronix 280. The problem with this is that I can't seem to find a wiring diagram with the correct color wires at the harness fan connectors. My driver side connector has yellow/light blue. The passenger side one appears to have one black/light grey. I have seen a wiring diagram for an 08 Silverado that shows one fan having yellow/grey, and the other having black/light blue. But my Tahoe is a '10 model.

So I have two questions:

1. Does anyone know the coorect nomenclature / source for the fan side connector that would fit the stock harness connector.
2. On my stock harness with the yellow/light blue, and black/grey wires, which wires are which?

The pictures are all of the factory harness/connectors.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

Joe

I have no idea with connecters. I'm sure they are out there, but where. I don't know.

I can try looking up a diagram for your truck tomorrow. but it's just 2 wires, one positive and one negative. if you got a volt meter must thru the ac on to the fans some on the check polarity?

I would only warn the factory installed some crazy powerful for brushed motors like 700w stock. Just be sure you're not putting a lesser fan on. I've found the oems use more powerful fans than most aftermarket ones. at least until you get up into brushless race fans.

on a side note, gm uses those styles connectors on a lot of their fans, and I've seen pics melted connectors. I don't know anything about your Metronix 280, but they might be a better connection.

unplug the fans, turn the engine on, turn AC on, take a meter and check for positive/negative on the fan harness's
