I recently installed the Corsa Performance Touring catback system on my 2011 Tahoe LTZ. I had previously done the SLP Resonator delete kit and hated the drone. I should have known that GM goes to the expense to put resonators on these vehicles for a reason.
The installation wasn’t difficult at all. I used Rhino Ramps to raise the rear of the vehicle and used a creeper to move around under the vehicle. Removing the stock exhaust was not difficult once I put WD40 on the rubber hangers where the cone tipped hanger rods protrude and used Channellock pliers to push the cone tip back through the rubber hanger.
Installing the Corsa was easy and the directions are good. I did have a small issue where once I tightened all of the clamps, the exhaust tip was touching the rear bumper. Because of the heat and movement of the exhaust I needed to get this lowered. I also noticed the front of the muffler was slightly lower than the back. I loosened the front clamps and rotated the offset pipe in front of the muffler. This changed the orientation of the hanger rod which raised the muffler and pipe behind the muffler and caused the rear of the tailpipe and tip to pivot lower about 3/8 of an inch. The hanger rod end (tip) on the pipe in front of the muffler where it goes through the rubber hanger is now slightly off of horizontal but won’t be an issue.
I chose the Touring over the Sport because I wanted a little sound around town but quiet on trips. I also felt like this was an SUV and not a sports car or pickup plus a louder exhaust might hinder selling it in the future. Of course this is personal preference. The Touring is louder than stock and a great sound with a nice low rumble. You can hear it under normal in-town acceleration and driving but it is not loud except under aggressive acceleration. It is way better than the sound (drone) at certain RPM’s from the SLP kit. I can also hear it at times on the highway with the radio off when any load is placed on the engine like picking up speed or climbing a slight grade. It is very low and not the constant drone at highway speeds of the SLP.
At just under $800 dollars the Corsa is expensive but a high grade of stainless steel and very well made with a reputation of no drone due to their patented design of Helmholtz resonator chambers in the muffler. I decided to spend this much on an exhaust because I did a google search on other popular brands (brand X + drone) and found hundreds of complaints about drone. This is not to say all other brands will resonate since it can vary by vehicle and installation but I didn’t want to risk it.
