No, it is either that the intake is causing your PCM to read incorrectly, or your MAF is bad (which would also send the wrong readings to your PCM).

Yes, without being tuned for the CAI, it can throw the PCM for a loop, and sometimes even throw a CEL. You are probably just running rich or lean, and needs to be tuned back in to normal boundaries.

I had a similar issue a few months back. Just seemed like some days she didn't want to go. Another symptom that I noticed is that the exhaust sounded horrible. Driving around town was ok but when I got on it, it would hesitate and sometimes it would bog down very badly. No MIL and no codes. Finally after this went on for what seemed like forever, it threw a code for Catalyst Efficiency. Took it to a muffler shop and he cut out bad cat (90% blockage) and replaced it with an OEM cat. Truck now runs like new and sounds great again.

There is a simple test the muffler shop can do to tell if your cat is the issue. They can drill a small hole in the pipe right before the cat and insert a pressure probe then fire up the engine and rev it a bit. If there is a buildup of pressure the cat has blockage an needs to be replaced. A couple of PSI is okay. Mine was showing 20 to 30 PSI!

Hopefully this helps.

sweet thanks for the reply...finally someone who had the same issues, but im thinking it as all because of the trans, it finally went out on me on Friday. Drive into work ran great, went out to grab lunch and boom gone. fired it up this morning, drove it around the block and finally quit moving completely. i am going to have him check my cats also bc i did see something on youtube about doin what you suggested..also may be the fact that i have the common problem where the bolt broke off the back of the manifold and has a horrible leak. who knows ill update later this week. was the original 4l60e with 175k on it so id say its done its job, although ive only had it a month
