Couldn't decide so I just dropped the rear

I also discovered this weekend that if you put 2"+ lowering springs in the rear with no spacers, you have to watch how the springs seat any time you lift the rear wheels off the ground. My right side was able to shift just enough that the spring would rub on the frame over bumps and make a concerning groan resonate through the body. A simple repositioning helped that.

Thanks for your info. I didn't mind the slope of the roofline, and your example of the Rover is perfect. It was just a visual thing that didn't look right to me. I liked the result adding the spacer even though it was a minimal amount. That said I decided to just go all in and had a Belltech kit delivered on Friday.

I won't need to worry about that issue. The Belltech drop spring is actually the same length, maybe even a little longer than the stock spring.

Growing up doing lots of car customizing, I dealt with a lot of issues with window tint and cops. In MN, they only legally allow 50% upfront, which to me, is not even worth doing. So have I thought about it? Oh yeah! Will I do it? nah, probably not. I have considered an eyebrow for the windshield though.

though the 50% tint doesn’t seem to darken it much it still absorbs tons of UV rays that protect you and your interior. Here in VA we have the same laws. My daughter got a ticket for the tint I put on the rear doors. The judge tossed it bc I removed it but I learned the policeman that gave the ticket was shot from a car he couldn’t see in so I get it.

So far things have been good. I haven't done actual measurements on height but the running board is still very parallel with the ground, so if there is sag/settling, it's pretty minimal. The ride quality is really no different than stock. For a couple weeks after install, the rear sway bar wasn't completely/correctly installed and after repairing that and getting the sway bar held nice and tight, everything is pretty much the same.

Last week I went camping and would be pulling a roughly 2,700lb pop-up camper and had concerns about the rear going any lower. It did a little bit, but with proper weight distribution it wasn't that bad. I did wonder how many guys on the highway thought "DUDE TOO MUCH TOUNGE WEIGHT" since they wouldn't know the rear was already lowered lol. But all in all, this rear mod has lost me zero functionality, which is awesome.

I finally settled on using the Belltech progressive rate (2014) tahoe springs for my 15+. Rides incredible. 2" drop.

I didn't notice any negatives. Maybe the slightest bit softer, to be honest, but that might be psychological. Nothing yet has made me regret anything about it!


No issues with the rear bump stops hitting more frequently? Looks great.

I don't think they ever have hit. The springs don't seem to be any softer than the factory ones, even if they didn't start with a static height as tall as the stocks. Even while towing the camper I didn't have any issues. Having said all that, the roads I traveled were not that bad.
