I have a 97 Tahoe 5.7 and have been having trouble with starting. Not a battery or starter issue. Sometimes cranks right up, sometimes takes 2-5 seconds of cranking before it will fire. i have replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor 18 months ago. Possible coil failure?

Thanks

you may have a cam sensor issue but it may not trigger a light if the failure is not consistent. you can test the ignition coil using the procedure below. and there is another document to help troubleshoot your issue.
