Hard to crank

I have a 2010 Yukon SLT with 271k miles. It wasn’t well maintained by former owners and I am slowly getting issues repaired. The history of engine & transmission is unknown.

When the battery died last year, AAA had to break into the vehicle since the driver door lock doesn’t work with a key. New battery placed. This vehicle has to be cranked every 3-4 days or it becomes hard to crank. Before I turn off the vehicle, I make sure all power buttons/switches are in the “Off” position. What would cause the drain on a new battery?

Any information and/or suggestions are appreciated

When you say "hard to crank," you mean the battery has been drained enough to barely be able to engage the starter? And when you say it needs to be cranked every 3-4 days you mean you have to drive it (to recharge the battery)?

These trucks also have battery run-down protection. If you leave the headlights on, the system shuts them down after 15 or 20 minutes.

Have you checked for a parasitic drain with a multimeter? If that's the case, it's really just a game of pulling fuses until you eliminate/identify the source of the drain.

Yes to battery drainage. Yes to having to crank to recharge battery.

I will check for a parasitic drain. Thank you for responding
