I have no idea how big the cam is all I know is it was Lopey in the drag truck. I'm not able to obtain the info either unfortunately. The guy who built it ****** me and we aren't on speaking terms. It sounds obnoxiously big tho.

Ok. After you get it running when it goes into closed loop and it's in gear it will probably want to die. Mine did. The only way to compensate for that is a tune. I couldn't find anything available in Canada where I am so I changed the cam to a HD towing cam. The computer and map can only compensate so much to try to make it run properly. Must be a drag racer thing. The guy I bought mine from screwed me also. It took me a lot to get this running decent. I sold the truck cause it pissed me off so much. But the kid I sold it too beats the hell out of it and hasn't turned a wrench on it in two years. So I must have done something right. But I had to stop I had way to much into it.

I'd hate to have to pull all that shit off to put a smaller cam in it. I'm assuming I'd have to know the motor specs to get it custom tuned anyways. I've got close to 7 grand into it at this point I can't turn back now or it will all be for nothing.

You would need to know the specs of the engine to get it tuned. There's only a few places that still tune those being it's the obd1 that you change the prom chip in the computer behind the glovebox. But there's a couple of places either way your going to either have to figure out what the specs are or you could simply swap it back to carbed which you said the cam was real Lopey so it's most likely way to big.

That's why sold mine. I had too much money and wasn't happy with how it ran. It did run good but not the way I wanted with out a tune. So sold it

I did the same I had a 95 z71 built it up good good cam for the TBI system vortec heads a lot of other stuff it was built a lot finally got tired of it cause it chose to run right when it wanted to I couldn't ever get it right so I cut my losses before they became worse but it was a fun project and honestly I'd like it back at least that's what I think at times lol

I like the LS platform now. I will not go back again. After my 6.0 swap I want to drop an LS into something old. Looking for a good car or truck now. Cheep easy power and very reliable.

If I could put a ls in it I would but working 6 days a week and side jobs limits my time. That and lack of knowledge doesn't help. I'm working on putting the plugs n wires in now headers make this a pain.

Maybe someone can tell what type of cam I have if I pull it out. Then maybe I can get a custom tune based off that. I just never had luck with a carb. My s10 had a 350 in it and it was carbed I hated it always had some sort of issue.

On the end of the cam is numbers. You should be able to get the cam specs from them. Then you need to know bore and stroke. From there you should be able to get a decent tune. Before you go through all that trouble call and look into someone who can do this for you and they may not need this info. They my just use the numbers from how it's running. Research first before going further
