Im not throwing a code or anything but I believe the one Im using is orginial and might have a worn gasket on it. any help would be well appreciated.

There are always small variances during manufacturing that at rpms can be a tad bit different then the last one. The computer needs to perform the test so it can distinguish was it is seeing with the new sensor. If it is not done and you misfire is may give false readings on what cylinder is misfiring among other things. It is a 10 minute procedure really and you should not get charge more the 30 min of labor. Might even get it done for free.
