Hello all, I have a safety question. I own a 2007 Tahoe 2WD, and I think it's time to drop the pan and change out the o ring on the pickup tube. I know I have to drop the front crossmember for clearance, but my question is, can I remove it with the weight of the vehicle on the tires, while it's up on ramps, or will it cause alignment/safety issues? I can put it on jack stands, but I prefer the ramps if I have to crawl under it. Thanks.

I don’t think there will be any problems, just make sure to put it back together the way you found it

You can do it on ramps, but there's more room to work if you use jack stands instead. You won't have any alignment issues reinstalling it.

.... And use the felpro oil pan gasket. Actually better than OEM. And a small dab of RTV for the front and rear covers meet the block and the oil pan. If you have the oil pressure relief valve in the oil pan, you can plug it if you don't have AFM/DOD. It only exists protect the AFM solenoids from oil pressure spikes. If you don't delete it, at least replace it. They do wear out and tend to affect oil pressure. You already have an oil pressure relief valve in your oil pump.... The second one is not necessary. Several places make the correct size bolt with a copper washer to simply plug it. I think they're on Amazon as well.

I've had that crossmember down before, on ramps and jack stands, never a problem.
