Interesting. Well I grabbed a scanner while it wasn't working and it had a brake switch low voltage code with the new switch in. Cleared the code and it worked. Must be a bad one out of the box

Best bet is to replace the switch.

Bought a new switch and it WORKS!!! I would've sworn that my switch was okay when I tore it apart but now it makes sense while coming to a slow stop one day it died, I'm assuming the TCC didn't disengage and killed the engine.

I have a 2008 Avalanche with Cruise control issues.

I replaced the brake light switch twice and it still only works intermittently. I am pretty sure I have narrowed it down to something in and around the brake pedal. When CC is not engaging, if I kick the pedal or the arm its attached to it will start working again, also sometimes after simply stepping on the brake pedal the CC will engage. It seems like the issue would be the brake light switch but I replaced it twice; any thoughts on what else might be the culprit?

mine seems to only work at a certain temp. if it's cold in the morning when i head to work, it won't work. but always works in the afternoon when i'm heading home. I bought a new switch from rock auto and plan to swap them out but it still seems strange to me.

My '07 Denali had inop cruise control when I bought it. I replaced the brake switch a few days ago and it's been working ever since.

I would suggest everyone with inop cruise try replacing the switch first. The AC Delco part is $12 on Amazon and took me about 20 minutes start to finish with no idea what I was doing, so you're not taking a big risk even if it doesn't fix it.

Also worth noting, I read a few comments about how hard it was to get to the switch because of the confined space it's in... I'm 6'6", 300 lbs, and had no issue getting in there to change the switch, so don't believe any "You need to hire a little person to do it" claims you read.

well what a pain in the ass. I replaced the clockspring but that did not fix the cruise. Now what? I guess its possible the actual switch on the steering wheel is bad. When I turn the cruise on by pushing the button it lights up but maybe the button for "set" is not working. Anyone have any other ideas?
I'm having the same problem 08 yukon Denali replaced brake light switch not sure what else to do?

I'm not aware of any adjustment for it, sorry. Does the yellow power light on the cruise on/off button on your steering wheel come on and the cruise just won't set, or is the light not illuminating at all?
