In my 2011 LTZ when using cruise controll, if i am at higway speed and hit acellerate my truch accelerates really hard. Within a second or two the engine is at 4-5k rpm. Every other viehicle i have owned has a much smoother acceleration when using cruise controll.
Is this normal, or somthing i should take in for a warranty fix

Mine is a little more smooth than that, as long as I only hit accelerate one or two clicks. You are talking about the accelerate button on the wheel right?

humm, I usually don't hold it. Just click, I think each click is around 1.5 mph gain or something. Next time I have it out i'll try holding it and see how it responds. But for me 2-3 clicks is usually a decent speed increase and is smooth.

'08 Yukon does the same, if I press and hold for longer than a second. I just press and release until it speeds up, works just fine.

I think that is normal. If i hold mine as well, it will accelerate as if i floor it. I just click it a few times and it normally does the trick

that is unfortunate, was hoping that was something that could be "fixed". I currently click it now, but would prefer that it accelerated at at a slower rate.
the last two vehicles i owned (durango and maxima) if you press and hold it would accelerate at a mild rate, if you click twice and hold it would accelerate at a quicker pace and if you clicked three times and held it would accelerate briskly. I don't see why GM settled on their system and thought this was a good idea

I have 2 new Impalas that do the same thing. Click to gradually accelerate,

keep button pressed for a few seconds to go wide open throttle.

Seems like a pretty decent system to me. If those options don't work I guess its time to start using the right foot again...
