Cruise Control shuts off when headlights come on, 2002 Yukon XL

2002 Yukon XL (4x2)

Very odd thing happening..

During the day the cruise control works exactly as expected. When it gets dark and the auto-headlights come on, ****, the cruise clicks off (light on dash goes out). The same thing happens during the day if I turn on the headlights manually as well. And trying to reactivate the cruise fails.

I have found plenty of posts about bad brake light switches tripping the cruise intermittently, but nothing yet on this symptom.

Ideas?

one of your brake lights out? It happens with LED tail lights as well because the system doesn't see a light back there so it stops the cruise control.

It could be a bad bulb but it could also be a short in the headlight wiring. Check the bulbs for damage first then run down the wiring harnesses.

Sold the truck. Got a Ford Excursion with the 7.3 diesel. Makes the Yukon XL feel like a toy.
